Workshop with Senior Journalists
Media for Tobacco Control in Bangladesh |

PROGGA (Knowledge for Progress) in collaboration with the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) with support from Tobacco-Free Kids (TFK) under the Bloomberg Global Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use organized a residential workshop on tobacco control issues for the senior journalists of Bangladesh. The 4-day workshop arranged with a boat cruise to the Sundarbans.

 The journey from Dhaka started on 07 February 2010 Sunday afternoon and returned to Dhaka on 11 February Thursday morning. The 21 senior journalists from reputed newspapers, TV Channels and Radios attended the residential workshop. The workshop consisted of 8 sessions covering the following issues: Tobacco Control: Global and Bangladesh Context, Major Issues in Tobacco Control in Bangladesh, Economics of Tobacco Control, Industry Tactics, and Media Advocacy for Tobacco Control. |

At the end of the workshop, the participants came up with their ideas and strategies through group exercise to earn greater media attention. Taifur Rahman, Chairman and Asraf Siddique, Director of PROGGA facilitated the workshop. |
